Bike Racing Returns to Portland
The Mt. Tabor Race Series returned for 2021 after it’s 2020 cancellation due to Covid-19. The six-week criterium race series has been running annually for nearly 70 years, and this edition was a reaffirmation of community and competition in the heart of southeast Portland. Held on the cinder cone of an extinct volcano, the hilly course takes racers through tall trees and around a retired reservoir. The park remains open to the public during these events, presenting opportunities for spectating as well as logistical challenges in sharing the course roads.
